Was Jose justified in getting angry with his medical staff? Who are they most answerable to - coach or players?

No.
In fact, I'm shocked that he put three points ahead of the welfare of his players.

Why do people pronounce his name like JOE SAY. ???
Shouldn't it be HOSAY?
-
Agreed. I don't think this was sexism per se but him using his medical staff as an excuse. However having a female doctor made it easier for him to insinuate that she 'can't read football' because she is female. In addition he can't fail to be aware of the disgusting abuse that she gets every time she goes on the pitch and he's set her up for even more.

He's Portuguese. I think it's more accurate to pronounce the J.
-
AH? Since when?
-
Another point, if Hazard wasn't in need of treatment, he could have just got up.
-
AH? Since when?
Since he was born.
Oh you mean the J thing. There's a complicated explanation on Wiki. I had a holiday thing with a Portuguese bloke donkeys years ago and he was called Jorge, pronounced very much like the English George.
-

Hint: Portuguese is a different language from Spanish.

I like Mourinho, but he got this badly wrong. He is not medically qualified, and he should be prepared to accept what the medics felt the need to do. It would do his image good if he decided to admit an error, and apologise.
-
I seem to remember many years ago, a policeman walked onto a football pitch during a game to warn a player that his language was unacceptable. My recollection (which may be faulty) is that the referee was furious with the policeman and ordered him off the pitch. The policeman replied that English Law was superior to the Law of Football and the referee was warned that he faced arrest for interfering with a police officer in the course of his duty.
In the Chelsea incident, didn't the ref signal the medical team onto the pitch? Doesn't their roles as health professionals dictate their response? Had the player been forced to play on but subsequently found to be seriously injured, how would Mourinho have defended his action?
-
I'm not sure if the ref had waved the medical team on, but it's generally agreed he was about to.
If he didn't need attention Hazard shouldn't have stayed down.

I've seen a photo which clearly shows the ref waving the medics on. Clearly Mourinho is wrong, but he won't admit it, and after all, he has to blame somebody for not winning that game. I suppose medical ethics means that a doctor can go on the pitch even if the ref hasn't called them on, as in the policeman story, since doctors must treat people before any other consideration. Still, it's fun watching Mourinho in one of his sulks.

I hadn't seen that. The man's becoming an embarrassment and has exposed Caneiro to more sexist abuse than usual - that's without what he apparently hurled at her himself. Hope she sues Chelsea for constructive dismissal once she goes - which is looking inevitable.
-
The geezer's a dick, innit. He's a smarmy git.

Good to see Chelsea bought to Earth last night by city

Was hoping that it would be a draw, as I dislike both teams. I'd much prefer that some team like Bournemouth, Leicester or Norwich beat both!!

Was Carneiro right or wrong to take the debate to social media?

I wouldn't call thanking the public for their support "taking the debate". I would suggest however, that she was justified. After all, Mourinho chose to criticise his staff in public.
-
I tried to post a full reply but couldn't. Put it this way - given the filth Dr Carneiro gets on Twitter, in the Sun (thanks to an ex) and from the terraces it isn't she who has misused social media or the media in general.

jeremy, I used the phrase 'take the debate' because it was something I heard JM use in an interview on the issue. Perhaps I ought to have inverted comma-ised it. Mind you, I would agree with you that he seems to have one rule for himself and another for others.

JM = Jose Mourinho? Yes, he's a twat. I wouldn't believe anything jut because he said it.

I agree with both of those.
I have to say, I used to respect Mourinho and defend him against others who thought he was a twat. This episode has really disappointed me.
-
Agree completely with Jeremy. I used to think he added colour and amusement to the PL. In this instance he's hung a colleague out to dry - and as she is female left her open to the most disgusting verbal abuse. And it's purely to save his own face. Twat's about right.
