“I remember my friends and my enemies too/ We all did our duties for our countries/ We all obeyed our orders/ Then we murdered each other/ Isn’t war stupid?”

Is war stupid??

It is, invariably, stupid. Unfortunately, sometimes it's even more stupid not to defend yourself.

Nobody wins a war, someone loses more than someone else.

Agree completely. Fighting Naziism was the least stupid option.

Dear Outrider and Rhiannon,

Yes but I am thinking it is now the 21st century ( just thinking ).

We can look back and think, yes it was right to oppose Nazism, but are we any smarter ( just thinking ).

Other isms pop up instead. Mostly kinds of fundamentalism. What do we do, fight them or ignore them? Marianne Williamson said that if we loved as fiercely as IS hate they wouldn't stand a chance. But they are much better at hating than we are at loving.

Dear Rhiannon,

Ah that big word Love, I prefer the smaller word Compassion, to suffer with.

Jakswan will be along in a minute to tell us compassion has no place in politics. :(

Grow up! :)

Anyway you claimed 'Jakswan will be along in a minute to tell us compassion has no place in politics' I hold to no such position.
