It is good if they can bring a bit of humour into the proceedings. ;D
Although this was unintended humour, I still remember it all these years later.
I attended a Pentecostal church as a kid, and had to do the adult baptism thing after I got 'saved'. I don't remember much about my personal dunking, but an elderly women was being done at the same time, and it was hilarious! She didn't realise that the white tunics we wore for the baptism were see through when they got wet. All the other people being baptised wore their swimsuits underneath, this old woman wore nothing! We couldn't stop giggling as her emersion left nothing to the imagination! I bet the many randy male members of the congregation wished it was one of the younger women who had given such a display! ;D ;D ;D

That "hover" board clearly has wheels and they are definitely touching the ground. Has he been suspended for misrepresentation?

If I was a hover boarding priest and my hover board didn't touch the ground I think I would be Touching cloth.

Not difficult - they tend to wear a lot of it.

Shaker,
I hope you wear a lot of it as well.

Goodness me, no - if you've got it, flaunt it is my motto, and no magistrate is on record as demonstrating otherwise.

Shaker,
YUK! To the max! Thank God you hate the warmth of summer and stay hidden in your hovel.

Ah, but British summers are not often, or for long, very warm (ask any Briton), so I'm out and about and shaking it most of the time :D

That sounds like a great name for a dry cleaning outfit.

The Catholic Church of Rome wonders why they are losing their congregation.

I asked our vicar daughter if I should get her a hover board, she said it would be a great idea, but she reckoned she would probably break her neck if she used one! ;D

Priests who do stuff like that, thinking they're cool or funny and thinking they'll attract young people, are just seen as sad by young people.

The priest, at the diocese of San Pablo in Laguna, was filmed riding the self-balancing scooter up and down the aisles, to the applause and evident delight of some of the congregation.
It wasn't met with apparent disdain at all...
Young people were not the ones making the complaints and there appears to be the majority liking it. In fact they applauded and evidently liked it. You should never undermined a priest or vicar trying to bring excitement to his Parishioner's on Christmas Eve.
It is evident that establishments DON'T like change from their norm. But even Christ brought change when he showed that the Sabbath was about the good of man given by God to help him. If Christ can walk on water why can't a priest use a hoverboard?

Because it's naff, cheapens the liturgy and is just sad. To compare Christ's miracles with a priest using a hoverboard shows that you're detached from reality.

Cheap shot and missed it's mark.

No comparison of Christs miracles. None whatsoever.... Can't even compare it to Christs miracles.
I said Christ BROUGHT CHANGE when he showed the Sabbath was given for the good of man. Christ walking on water is a statement and so was using the hoverboard. Both doing something new in their own time for a purpose of bringing God to the attention of man.
I guess the truth is you make excuses like ''cheapens the liturgy'' when in fact it shows as Christ that worship is not
about custom or practice but about worshipping God in Spirit and Truth.
Your problem reminds me of this:-
14 And David danced before the Lord with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod.
16 And as the ark of the Lord came into the city of David, Michal Saul's daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the Lord; and she despised him in her heart.
21 And David said unto Michal, It was before the Lord, which chose me before thy father, and before all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the Lord, over Israel: therefore will I play before the Lord.
22 And I will yet be more vile than thus, and will be base in mine own sight: and of the maidservants which thou hast spoken of, of them shall I be had in honour.
23 Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no child unto the day of her death.
If a King can dance in his loin cloth then a priest can use a hoverboard to praise the LORD.
I guess you are as miffed as Michal...
-
The miracles attributed to Jesus are highly unlikely to have happened in reality!

You are clearly comparing using a hoverboard with Christ's miracles. The major difference is that whilst the latter shows us that God became flesh the former shows us that there's no accounting for taste.
If you really were bothered about worhipping in spirit and truth then you would say with the ancient Church "lex orandi lex credendi" and worship according to the ancient liturgies. This is orthodoxy (right glory).

My post is clear so cannot twist it to something YOU and YOU alone want it to say.
As I am the author my words stands and yours show nothing but contempt for truth. You don't want the truth you are a pharisee who does not take his own advice. It isn't the outward way which counts it is the inward change to man with the outward showing it.

The truth shows God never became flesh.
Deuteronomy 18:
.17 And the Lord said unto me, They have well spoken that which they have spoken.
18 I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.
19 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.
God clearly telling us he will put his words in Christs mouth.
Christ clearly telling us the same:-
John 6:63King James Version (KJV)
63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
At the beginning of Luke you are warned AGAIN.
34 Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?
35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
Hence his name is the Son of God.
Not God and John warned you too...
5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
4 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
Jesus came in the flesh NOT God. God put his words into his mouth by his Spirit has he has done with all the Prophets.
The truth is you know I am right about the Priest and the Hover board and you know I am right that Christ is the Son of God.
Unless you love God with all your heart you cannot love Christ.
So what have you really Got?
4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.
6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
The World heareth you. But the truth has never changed and the truth is that Jesus is the Son of God.
Christ could not be clearer in making it known he was the Son of God. He did as his Father does.
He did not know everything as the ONLY true God does.
King James Bible
But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
Christ tells us:-
3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
Who has Jesus called the only true God and who is Jesus saying sent him?
You can make all the accusations you want, You can insult all you want. But you cannot remove the WORDS of Christ or the truth which shows he was NOT God but the Son of God whom the ONLY AND I DO MEAN ONLY true God sent.
Now unless you are going to prove Christ a LIAR. Then accept it... YOU ARE WRONG... Not shouting... just making it plain for you,.
-
Sassy even if Jesus did utter those words, which is by no means certain, he was only stating his opinion without anymore knowledge than the rest of us, being a mere human!

The scriptures clearly show that God became flesh: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God....and the Word became foesh and dwelt among us.
You are a heretic of the worst kind. Not only do you propogate false doctrine but you blaspheme the Holy Spirit in you rejection of the NT as scripture.
-

No. The ONLY SCRIPTURES referred to as Scriptures by God, Jesus Christ the Son of God, the Prophets and the disciples were the OT.
Nowhere is it taught in the OT there will be NEW SCRIPTURES. It is taught Christ will bring the truth hence the Pharisees and Sadducee co-existed with different beliefs. The Holy Spirit, has to my knowledge and the OT scripture never endorsed the NT.
He never foretold any new Scripture. In fact the OT was NEVER chapters and verses in the days of the Israelites and Moses.
The books of laws were on scrolls without verse and chapter.
It was a fact that God taught by the power of the Holy Spirit through the Prophets.
Jeremiah 31:31-34
31.Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
32. Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:
33. But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
34. And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
Christ did not write any books for he told us the Holy Spirit would teach us and lead us in the way we should go.
Circumcision of the heart means man is not taught by another man but God himself teaches them by the power of the Spirit within them. The Spirit whom Prophets spake by and even Jesus Christ himself.
If the bibles of the world disappeared tomorrow. Gods words will still remain for the living word of God is within man by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Acts 8:29
29. Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.
You see the truth is that the people of God have the Holy Spirit to teach them.
John 16:13.
Your words have no power they are but insult and show you have no real love of truth.
Because you would know that God says that he will put his laws in our hearts...

I don't know about walking on water but my favourite miracle was when the baby Jesus busted his way through his mother's hymen.

The title of this thread caught my eye, it is sooooo funny and floo's first post about her baptism was hilarious ;D, I can just imagine it. I had no idea that some of the robes used at baptism were see-through, I did attend one once and the outfit looked like quite thick cloth, curtain type. Your church must have had some sense of humour floo! No way would I do that or if I did, I'd wear long johns and a pair of pyjamas underneath.
It's a pity the thread has become so intense and serious, it started off very lighthearted.

Do you think it was funny the Priest being suspended?
I felt that Floo's post was more a mockery than about the priest and modern gimmicks in his sermon.
Not sure how funny for an elderly lady to be humiliated. But then again who knows what amuses people.
It is sad that a woman who appears not have witnessed a baptism was not told to wear swim wear.
I know the elderly have very prim and proper ideas about their nakedness being uncovered.
Would you have felt it funny had it been yourself and your son and other members of your family were there.
I find the idea of such a thing happening to an elderly woman horrendous.

Blaspheme the Holy Spirit?
That's a biggy, isn't it?
No forgiveness for that one.
-
As I understand it, no-one can blaspheme against the Holy Spirit unless they are a believer. As a non-believer Khatru you cannot blaspheme against the Holy Spirit. You can be insensitive, rude or whatever but not blaspheme.
Ad-o should know that! It's doctrine.

21 And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them.
22 And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man.
23 And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.
24 But the word of God grew and multiplied.
25 And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem, when they had fulfilled their ministry, and took with them John, whose surname was Mark.
Herod wasn't a jew or a believer.....
When Christ warns against blasphemy is it just to the jews?

Oh Sass the way floo described it was funny and she was a child at the time. It just tickled me but I didn't think about it deeply. I take your points and hope you know me well enough to know I am not totally insensitive to the feelings of others. It wouldn't have happened to me or my family, the only time I went to an adult baptism by immersion I was over forty and on my own, it was a one off, not something I'm familiar with.
