Thoroughly depressing read about Lesbian & Gay Asylum seekers in the UK:

I know a lot of secular people are prejudiced against gays, as well as some people of religion, but can't help feeling the Bible is responsible for the prejudice down the centuries! What on earth is wrong with love between people of the same sex for heaven's sake?

TV are you willing to tell us heteros exactly what it has been like for you, as a gay man, having to put up with anti-gay bias?

Hi floo

Well I am - but perhaps for another thread. This really was about LGBT asylum seekers and the dreadful situation they face.

I understand.  I think it would be good to hear your side of things if you care to start another thread. Anti-gays on this forum have had the floor to themselves for too long. Whilst supportive heteros, like myself, think we know how it is for gays putting up with prejudice, in reality we don't as we haven't experienced it in person.

Floo:  "...(we) think we know how it is for gays putting up with prejudice, in reality we don't as we haven't experienced it in person."
Quite agree floo, not only LGBT issues but others.

However, regarding the UK no longer being a certain refuge for LGBT asylum seekers, that is scandalous.

Trent, I looked on Stonewall and found this:
For some years many asylum courts ruled it would be ‘reasonably tolerable’ for lesbian, gay and bi people to be secretive about their sexuality in their own country to avoid persecution. Many were denied refugee status as a result of this. However, in 2010 an important court case rejected this idea, and it is now agreed that if a lesbian, gay or bi person has to hide their sexual orientation in order to protect themselves from persecution, they are eligible for refugee status in the UK.

Quite right but no use being eligible if they are denied refugee status and, according to your link, that means most applicants.

Shameful business.
