So what's the fuss about? Why do they think it's so important to say the exact made-up words in the book?

That had its origins in making sure the service was a proper Protestant one and not a nasty Catholic one. To counter the risk of heresy only approved services could be used.
Things really should have moved on now. The Reformation was a while ago.

look on the bright side, this might have upset the day of some of the many bigots the C of E has and with a bit of luck.
