I've fond memories of Catweazle even if I was 18 at the time!

I remember him a while back doing a turn on Fort Boyard (doing the riddle challenge) and his voice and facial expressions were still as distinctive as his Catweazle.

Seemed a gentle actor with much understanding of the absurdity of life

He turned down the part of the Doctor in Doctor Who - twice. He would have made a truly wonderful Time Lord.

Been discussing elsewhere whether Geoffrey Bayldon would have been too similar to Hartnell, and I was pointing out the Bayldon would have been much younger than I am today when he was Catweazle. It"s also odd that he played the First Dr in Big Finish Audio productions, and worked with Pertwee in Gummidge. In addition Catweazle was seen as a competitor for the Dr.

Catweazle has a fan club, and looking at the posts they are devastated by his demise.
