Manchester Arena blast: 19 dead and about 50 hurt
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-manchester-40007886
Lots of children there, dreadful.
Some people are very sick and warped, to do this.
-
I saw it on the BBC news before going to bed rose, can't take it in. All those poor people, families, kids.
-
Nothing remotely useful to say. The utter futility of it...
-
Young people tweeting photos of missing best friends and siblings. Same age as my kids.
-
Oh Rhiannon & Rose, it's heartbreaking. i have BBC Breakfast on& don't usually put telly on in the morning but, like you, nothing useful to say. It is just so so bad.
Gotta get ready for work & frankly don't feel like it. Me carrying on as normal, my kids in 20s doing the same. it could have been them ten years ago.
-
Carrying on as normal is the best response for those not caught up in it, even though nobody feels like it. It's what our young people need more than anything.
-
Beyond tragic! :o :(
-
Still looking in utter bewilderment at the news, talking to my girls about it. No words.
-
I am gratified that in the aftermath of this terrible event that so many people demonstrated their humanity and concern by generously offering assistance, accommodation, transportation and any other help they could provide to the traumatised people at this event.
This is ample evidence of the innate goodness of people and more than counters the empty hatred of the perpetrator of this despicable deed.

The non missing missing

I really think the sooner the whole of the world becomes Secular the better, unfortunately there'll always be a few of these bombing nut jobs people around but Secularism would help reduce the amount of them, via not lending any special unwarranted, privileged/special status to specifically religion based subjects in schools anywhere; it'll be a long haul but a much needed improvement.

Dreadfully sad

Our vicar daughter knows of two children who attend a primary school in her area who were at the event last night, fortunately they weren't hurt.

I don't know who the 'you' or the 'they ' you are talking about here.

OK
The ones who've claimed responsibility for this. The eternally lovable IS.
-
The interview on TheWorld at One on Radio 4 with the young man who knew the bomber from school was, I thought a very sensible one.
-
Think this covers a lot of solid points

I was disturbed by the decision to cancel the showing of the cup final at the Emirates. Unless there was direct intel that it was threatened that seems to cause panic and alarm and give the terrorisst what they want. And why that event and not the others taking place this weekend?

-
Similar cancelling of Bus Parade and event at Celtic Park.
-
But not the athletics in Manchester? ???
-
I was talking to my kids about my feeling (and I know feelings aren't reliable) that this kind of terror is a fashion and it will die out, although not without cost. Then I saw this about 'Jihad fatigue'.
https://www.msn.com/en-au/news/other/kepel-i-believe-there-is-jihad-fatigue/vp-BBBvBTn
-
I think it's more events that are ancillary to others that are getting cancelled
-
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-40069959
The terror level has been reduced from critical to severe.

Unbelievable. How does he think Nazi regalia is retaliation?

The sort of person you'd be embarrassed to have as a dad.

I was gutted when I heard about this on the radio. I could not believe this could have happened in the UK at a concert with so many kids present.

I'm gutted too, but as much as I wish I couldn't believe it, I think many of us thought it was just a matter of time before something like this happened. The whole situation is unbelievably sad.

ALL non-Muslims are the Kuffar or ungrateful &, if they refuse to 'con'vert then they are worthy of death.
Is so obvious IS don't see any distinction between ages here.

Despite me repeatedly asking, you still haven't stated on this forum the author of the translation of the Quran you are using to come up with these conclusions. You seem to be getting your extremist interpretations from IS, who have limited support - mostly from violent individuals who are alienated from mainstream Muslim society. I personally don't know any Muslims who think Islam requires them to hold the views you repeat on here.
It sounds no different to the religious contradictory rantings of this deranged white supremacist who stabbed and killed individuals who intervened when he was abusing a Muslim woman on a train:
http://www.oregonlive.com/portland/index.ssf/2017/05/who_is_jeremy_christian_facebo.html
In February 2016, Christian wrote, "Just to clarify a few things: 'I Hereby Solemnly swear to Die trying to Kill Hillary (Herself a filthy Murderess) Clinton and Donald Trump should they be elected to the post of President in my faire country on Vinland. This I swear to Odin, Kali, Bastet and all other Pagan Gods and Goddesses in my Aryan Theosophical Nucleus. This is my duty as a Viking and Patriot. In Jesus name....I Feel The Bern!!!!"
In late January, however, Christian wrote, "If Donald Trump is the Next Hitler then I am joining his SS to put an end to Monotheist Question. All Zionist Jews, All Christians who do not follow Christ's teaching of Love, Charity, and Forgiveness And All Jihadi Muslims are going to Madagascar or the Ovens/FEMA Camps!!! Does this make me a fascist!!!"

Yes.
There is also the issue of how to monitor all the individuals who continue to pose a risk, given the limited resources of the security services.

Strange stories about MI5 helping Libyan radicals to go to Libya to fight against Gaddafi, then come back, then go back, and so on. I don't know if this will ever be really made explicit, but it sounds like the muhajeddin in Afghan, who supposedly turned into Al Qaeda, armed by the US.
-
The whole "Arab spring" was mishandled by Obama and the West generally, probably due to reluctance to engage following the chaos after the invasion of Iraq, Afghanistan ...
You can't expect mobs that pull down dictators to establish liberal democracies without a lot of help and support. Those disillusioned by the revolution turn to more extreme actions. In any case, did we even want them to succeed? They also removed our means of control.
You can see the same kind of anarchy has now taken hold in the Yemen with our full backing?

Or Libya where we might have allowed loons to travel too and come back and blow up children

It should be made clear to all those going abroad to be radicalised that they will not be permitted to re-enter the UK, even if they are British by birth.
-
That sounds like stable doors, horses bolting, etc.

I don't need one translation of The Quran to say who Islam says the Kuffar are. It's also where racist South Africans say kaffer meaning godless heathen, is from. Not ALL SFs though,of course.
BTW I don't believe a word IS says even though they DO seem to acting much as 'your' founder did in the early years of Islam's invention.
What you call 'mainstream Muslim society' co-exists within many societies DESPITE Islam's orders not because of them.

Why didn't you answer the question?
-
And what was that then? Ignoring MY points & desperately clinging on to G's question which has little or no relevance to my point.
ALL we non-Muslims are the Kuffar or ungrateful!! FACT!!
If you did a bit of homework yourself instead of ignoring my points, you'll learn a lot & be less inclined to cuddle up with the 'enemy'. Not ALL Muslims BTW.

The question that Gabriella has asked repeatedly about which translation.
You do know that capitalisation and exclamation marks aren't arguments, don't you?
And random assertion isn't either.
