Good protest or simplistic, or other?

Apparently it upsets Hindu extremists (of which there is no shortage), so it's a good thing.
-
Shaker
Do please explain....
-
Upsetting religious extremists is a good thing. Religious extremists are ugly people I dislike who by definition espouse the antitheses of the civilized, humane, liberal values I regard as indispensible for the good order of the good society, so - being my enemies - if they are upset I am pleased that they are upset.
-
Ok So what would you call extreme Hindus.?
What's their crime?

The massacre of Sikhs has to be pretty high up on the list, surely.
Brutal violence against members of all other religions, in fact.
-
The Sikh business was awful but would you say that was a HINDU thing?
Any others as per your parting line, please?

That was terrible - but not due to any "extreme" group.
-
Indeed Bhaiya ?!?!
Wasn't it due to some terrorist attack FROM the Sikh side???
-
Ah, they started it! The shout of the playground for eternity.
-
Well YOU'D know about that eh ?!?!?

Well YOU'D know about that eh ?!?!?
In what way?

You throw some half-baked thing into the room & then just stand back !!!

My supposed use of partially cooked comestibles is a new one on me. I am sure you know what you are talking about.
Anyway let's get back to the link, is the protest valid? If not why not? If it is valid, is it useful or just indulgent?

There was a long lead up with various groups involved. The trigger was the assassination of Indira Gandhi by two of her Sikh bodyguards. Mob violence was initiated by various Congress party politicians and supporters.
Cause and effect can be traced back to the start of time, but, essentially, I don't see this as a religious conflict or issue even if some factions have tried to make it one.
The cow mask protest makes a great point effectively, but aimed to get action on the rape/equality issues - not really against "extremist Hindus".

So when the artist links it to extremist Hindus, he is wrong?
-
How is he wrong? He is contrasting the actions of the "extremist" Hindus (who are in power) on cow slaughter against their (lack of) action on the rape and equality issues.

I didn't say he was wrong, that was the point of the question mark. I'm not sure how this isn't in that sense against extremist Hindus.
-
ah ..
He is pointing out that "this" is more important than "that" .. the actual rights and wrongs of "that" are not being addressed in any depth - though he may feel that "that" is wrong in itself.

I think it's fairly clear that he thinks lynching people you think have cow meat and trying to pass laws that would have the death penalty for doing so is wrong, as he also does for those giving him death threats for what he is doing.
-
Yes, as does most of the population.
However, if the effect is to divert attention to those points rather than the inequality of women, maybe it is not as good and effective a protest as first appeared.

But surely the idea that cows ate more important than women is precisely because of extremist Hindu beliefs, and that that mist of the population !at agree with the artist is surely why some can be excoriated as extremists?
-
I'm pretty sure that Hindu extremists do not think that cows are more important than women. That is why they might be upset by the protest. The misogynist attitudes, behaviour or policies they do have need to change though.

So therefore it is good that he is addressing this to extremist Hindus. And that the protest is about extremist Hindu attitudes.

Yes I feel the same way about some of the " animal rights " extremists in the uk.
Exactly the same nastiness, just minus a religious input.
-
I'll rewrite that for you
"Upsetting animal rights extremists is a good thing. That's better 😜

Antithesis of humane? Really?

Antithesis of humane? Really?
Yes really! , very much so.
They attacked one of my neighbours, and no lie or tactic or blackmail is beyond or to low for them. Children are also targeted.
They try and involve all the neighbours by writing poisonous letters.
I had one, that was passed to the Police.
I hope they caught and prosecuted them.
