Interesting essay on why we fear our own image

Here's a data point, I am a white male and I have no fear of AI at all.
I do have irritation that so many articles of this nature come down to "white men bad, everybody else good". It's not as if all white men or even most white men are at the top of the intelligence tree.

Though there is a reasonable case that what we regard as intelligence is based round a view that is produced from what is a grouping largely made up of white western men, and that isn't dependent on the majority being at the too of that particular tree, rather that the tree is defined by that one which the majority of people at the top of it have been white western men.
I think the interesting part of the article though is the assumption that AI will loom like what has traditionally been defined of as intelligence and that that assumption may be wrong.

I expect we will create a super AI. It will have a quick look around then head off to hills to contemplate it's navel, or the equivalent.
