Having had three brothers in the R A F, two working with high-end fighter aircraft, I know that getting such a drawing accurate takes a fair bit of flying skill and probably at least a couple of test runs.

Agreed. Does seem stupid to ground such a skilled crew.

I suppose the response from the brass is that it represents a waste of valuable flying time and fuel or something.

But it is a testament to the skill of the pilot and an the quality of training. Instead of being grounded he should be given some training role.

A smack on the hand offence, not a grounding one, in my view.  I wonder about those who took the time to complain, did they have nothing better to do?

Eeewww!  Too intricate for amateur sky artists. Would have been difficult to recognise though so they may have escaped punishment.  Could have said it was an abstract.
