Good to see the focus on the victim here. Poor George.

It looks to me as if Welby was right to ask Carey to step down if he covered up allegations of abuse.

I thought the jury was out on the subject of Bishop Bell, didn't we have a thread on this earlier in the year?

I don't know what to think.

Yeah, but this is about Peter Ball. No question about his offences.

I'm on form today, getting my vowels mixed up. It'll be Bill next.
Yeah, no doubt about that one. Yet I still remember a thread about Carey's involvement, people saying he didn't know or didn't believe the accusations.
Carey's letter surprised me, a bit whiney. I didn't expect that sort of bitterness from him.

I see a woman has been appointed as Bishop of London, the third highest C/E office in the UK.
probably better for the rest of us now that she's out of an evidence based profession
-
On Today this morning she was asked if she believed homosexuality is a sin. She waffled, didn't even come close to an answer. I gather from the SofF forum that she is something of an evangelical.

Be fair, you think that it is all crap anyway, you are unlikely to support her.

What heretics do is up to them.
-
Heretics to you, or the others who see you as a heretic?

What the latter thinks does not bother me, any more than does tittle tattle at work.
-
Did anyone listen to 'thinking Allowed' today? At the end, several people's names were mentioned because of interesting e-mailssent in after last week's programme. Mine was the last name mentioned!!

That is abundantly clear from your posts!

The CofE exists to serve everyone in this country regardless of faith, that has always been its mandate. It isn't exclusive. Not at all likely to happen but, for example, it would be quite in order from the pov of the church, for a Sikh couple to be married by a vicar in their parish church because they have the right.
Good luck to the new Bishop of London, it's going to be interesting (for those who are interested).
In theory that’s the case. In practice priests decline to conduct baptisms in particular if they disapprove of the lifestyle of the couple concerned.

Does the landlord principle apply - do they have to give reasons?
