Or maybe not. And to note that one can still think Russia is a non benevolent despotism without thinking that they caused Trump, Brexit and the break up of Ant McPartlin's marriage.

Interesting, let's hope his assessment is correct.

The Graun are saying much the same.

Ridiculous headlines about the UK not matching Russian military spending. I guess the military chiefs are after more money, or trying to stop cuts. I'm sure the Russians are poised to advance across Europe in order to seize Tunbridge Wells.

They don't need to.
Surely, The English Channel is filled with Russian nuclear submarines waiting for a suitable opportunity to torpedo a cross-Channel ferry.

I thought I had imagined seeing that headline. There has never been a time since the war at least where Britain had the resources to stop the Russians from rolling right over us if they so chose.

Does anybody think for one moment that a relatively small and mostly agricultural island would be a major concern of a world superpower?
Let us get real boys and girls, we do not matter that much anymore.

What on earth do you mean by "relatively"?
Great Britain is the ninth largest island in the world. That makes it BIG. Russia isn't an island so there can't be any "relatively". Guernsey is relatively small.
And is Russia a superpower? I have been under the impression that it is not in any excellent financial state.
(Forgive me - I'm in nit-picking mood tonight)
