Title: Keith O'Brien dead
Post by: Nearly Sane on March 19, 2018, 02:04:28 PM
Towards the end of his time as an active Cardinal, O'Brien nearly seemed like he was beginning to take the idea of abuse and the sexism in the RC church seriously, but it was undermined by the revelations about his behaviour. I haven't seen much evidence of late that there has been real progress for his successor.

I don't suppose too many tears will be shed over the demise of this guy.

Well one reason he might not is that the accusations against O Brien weren't about pederasty.

You're quite right. I read the "young" in "Exactly a week after the Vatican announced it had found Cardinal O'Brien guilty of allegations of sexual impropriety, new claims have emerged that he preyed on seminarians and young clergy" (http://www.heraldscotland.com/news/13207559.Disgraced_Cardinal_Keith_O_Brien_facing_fresh_accusations_of_sexual_misconduct/) and inferred from it something that wasn't there. My apologies.

No problems, it was still a horrendous breach of his duty of care, never mind the hypocrisy.
