No idea: so why don't you first find out if this is correct, and if not we can forget all about it and not be unduly worried, and if so your enquiry will presumably tell you about the sources of authority on this extremely critical matter and also whether there are contrary views - and then you can come back here tell us all about it.

Doesn't it depend on the flavour?

Toilet paper is halal. Google it, Grace, and you will see.
Washing oneself after using the lavatory is preferable - or both.
I sincerely hope Gabriella will not lower herself to respond to this thread.

I think you have more in common, unfortunately because the person in the news is male what they say counts much more than anything you say... :)

You do know that washing yourself after going to the toilet is widely practised in many regions around the world right, by people of various religions and none? Let me guess - your ignorance comes from not having travelled further than Bournemouth.

You will be happy to know that many Christians, Hindus, Buddhists and atheists also wash themselves with water after emptying their bowels.

In case you ever do travel abroad:

By the way, according to pooing expert Rose George dry toilet paper doesn’t work to clean dirt – it just moves it around.

 ;D Steve.

I was very put off by imagining a water bottle with visible signs of faecal matter on it :o. Took a day or so for me to scorch it from my mind. I would think he just didn't wash the bottle properly when washing hands after poo & some faecal traits, detectable by microscope, were left.

A lesson to him to not only wash hands with soap but bottle needs thorough washing too. Plenty of people only rinse hands after toilet rather than thoroughly washing, it's probably no more than that but newspapers make a deal out of it. Embarrassing  :-[.

Hopefully he will move on, business intact.

"Poo" is nursery language. It's "shit" to grown-ups - and "arse", not "bum".

And another thing: if you only shit once a day, as the article suggests, you're probably mildly constipated. Two or three times aday is mor usual.

I think the Metro would have got into trouble using that language. :)

I would have thought the most important point, however you remove the shit from your arse, is that you wash your hands throughly afterwards. I don't care if this man licked his own bottom clean or used three ply andrex infused with the essence of unicorns, he should have been washing his hands and the bottle.
