I don't get it. The trousers look horrible but that's neither here nor there, some people may like them I suppose.
Neither do I get some of the text - don't all women, black or white, have a vagina?

Most of us go through life without feeling like that about our vagina.
Do men spend their lives thinking about their dicks? I suppose they might, I'll have to ask.

I recall that, when the Aquatic Centre designs for the London 2012 Olympics were released, the building was described as resembling female genitalia.
Two further designs by the late Dame Zaha Hadid have also been described as resembling a vulva - one was for the Olympic stadium in Japan (and has not been built) and the other for the Qatar World Cup stadium.

Many do and many think with them, hence the expression 'dickhead'. Sometimes it's sublimated and represented by large cars or similar. You can see it in the recent politics of Kim Jong-un - as Little Rocket man, Donald Trump as Big Rocket man and Putin as Fastest erection Rocket man.

In all seriousness a read through some of the stuff on the Love & Sex section of the Graun shows men to be extremely concerned with their genitalia, some in an extremely negative way, largely because of the myths about what women want in terms of size and function.

I actually agree with the quoted section here, although again she’s referring to the vulva, not the vagina. It’s not women themselves who think of them negatively, but society uses them as a weapon, as noted; there’s a reason why little girls are asking for cosmetic surgery for their labia. And while I get why women refuse smears after trauma, it’s horrifying to think that young women are refusing them purely because of how their vulva looks.
Where the article loses me is this idea of giant vulva pants being exclusively black and gay, but clearly I’m not right on enough for that one.

The trophy for the recently introduced Women’s Battle Royale in WWE goes further and resembles the entire female reproductive system.
It also looks like it’s made from polystyrene.

My brother in law liked a particular make of car and he always mispronounced the name, I had to file it, couldn't pass comment but couldn't help noticing, the smile was on the inside.
I'll leave it to you to work out the make of Swedish car it was, (subtle that).

I had one of those but they are shockingly unreliable for a Vulva. I suspect that the reason that nobody is killed in them is because they are always on the garage. Changed it for a Disco in the end.
Vuval pants would be good at Discos.

It’s a more recent thing from what I can gather, for women to feel embraced about perfectly normal genitalia. Whether it’s porn or male exoectarion or social media or a combination I have no idea.
But even without that I think women can have a poor self image with regards to their fanjos. I don’t think childbirth helps in that regard, let alone all the other things that can go wrong. I was reading recently about how many young women expect sex to hurt. Wtf gets taught in sex ed?

Sex does hurt the first time, usually, or if it isn't wanted. Other than that, great fun.
I like the word you used - "fanjos". Not heard it before but will definitely use it if called upon to talk about fanjos :).
I never had a problem with my fanjo but remember it suddenly seemed 'different' just before puberty & I wondered if everyone elses was the same. Then I forgot about it. It's served me well, no complaints.
PS:- still think those trousers are hideous. Do like Volvos.

I don't think there's a 'should' or 'shouldn't' about it, it often does first time especially if a girl is tense. Took me three or four goes, I didn't have psychological hang ups but when push came to shove I tensed up. Once we got it right, it was alright, my boyfriend was very considerate, we were kind and gentle with eachother. I was only sixteen - nearly seventeen. If I'd been older it might have been easier I suppose. Or if I'd had a drink, there's a thought.

I was always taught that sex shouldn’t hurt, (thank you, Just 17) including the first time, and it didn’t. Like you I had a long term, kind boyfriend. It’s no wonder you were tense though, if that’s what you were taught to expect. :(

I wasn't taught that, quite the contrary, it's just how it was for me. Maybe if it had worked first time I wouldn't have found it so difficult at the beginning but it wasn't for very long & I don't have unhappy memories. It's possible I wasn't quite ready for a sex life I suppose - but I thought I was at the time. My experience is not at all unusual.
I knew someone who married at eighteen - a virgin - and it was six months before she was able to consummate! That is a long time & also knew someone else where it took a month.They lived to be happy and have children, would probably laugh about it now.

I’m wondering whether the openness of J17 and Cosmo so on, meant that the expectations we had might have been different. None of my friends reported it hurting the first time.

People don't always tell the truth, Rhiannon. I might well have said it was all wonderful, I had very strong expectations but quite honestly I am not disappointed about it. If I'd tried for years it would've been a different matter but it wasn't like that, it happened successfully within a week of first trying and I was happy.
Men often have problems first time too - first few times - but with patience & a bit of love, we all get there in the end.
Not sure that Cosmo was particularly helpful, I used to read it regularly at one time but the articles were 'samey' & always fell a bit short of what I wanted to know as a teenager. Never seemed realistic.
PS Still don't get the vulval pants even though they are pink and frilly.
