This seems incredibly complex.

There's nothing new about it. There was a similar case back in the 60s - a woman banned from competing against other women because she was genetically inter-sex (as we would now say), though anatomically female.

It's the idea that it only applies to certain races that I find odd.
-
There is a 'factoid' that Princess Anne was the only woman not to have a 'sex year's at the 1976 Olympics but I am not sure that it is true, even if widespread

Yes, I don’t get why it would apply to long distance or hammer throwing.

It’s unlikely to be true since equestrian events have men and women competing against each other on a level playing field. The sex of competitors is irrelevant.

That’s the way it looks. Although as she’s talking about moving up to longer distances they may have to move the goalposts again.

Which is where it seems really weird. Lots of athletes do a 1500/5000 metre double. It seems weird to have a rule that applies to one and not the other.

I don’t get why they aren’t applying it to all events. It makes no sense at all and would be open to legal challenge I’d have thought.
This is yet another reason why I no longer care about athletics.

Both the women's 400m and 800m are enormously hinky. Indeed that's true of the 100 and 200. I tend to agree that the records need reset.

Don't think the rules are racist - just stupid
