Hi-Tech is being used more and more in archaeology; whether it's CT or MRI scans of mummies, DNA sequencing of mummies to create family trees, Sattelite imaging from space to locate ancient sites, or this example.

I'll be interested to know what is written, if it's possible to decipher what is on the fragments.

I, personally think it's wonderful. Just think what we may find out from documents that have been 'written' over in the past. Some not so old either, wink wink ?!?!?!
As long as there's no damage to any artifacts....
