Title: 'There Will Never Be an Age of Artificial Intimacy'
Post by: Nearly Sane on August 16, 2018, 04:16:02 PM
Lots of valid points made, but I think this underestimates our ability to find intimacy in things that we might know have no 'real' emotions, see The Velveteen Rabbit, and that AI will feel real in ways I doubt we can currently imagine. In the end this reads like a personal statement which I am sure will apply for many.

I have had dreams in which I have fallen in love with someone; when I have woken up the feelings are still there, still real and it takes me quite a while to shake them off. Not sure why this makes me think of that but it does, we can be deluded into love that has nothing do with true relationship.
