Less interested in what todays opinion formers recommend in terms of the philosophy of others since all must have some kind of part in the referendum and election of 2016.

I think he is using life in a different sense to you here. I have no idea what virtue signalling means here. Have a peaceful chilled holiday

The books, however, mostly look quite interesting. I'm particularly intrigued by the woman who has decided to live her life based on Aristotelian principles. I mean, the fact that he was horribly wrong about most things science related, should give cause to be sceptical about everything else too.

No. It's not a philosophical paper and you knew what he meant. Context as ever is important.

And again no, his point is that it is the right choice based on the books.
