Well, that was short-lived. Didn't much like the guy or his policies, but it shows he's his own man. Wasn't willing to suck up to Dominic Cummings apparently (sounds like the start of a felching joke).

The suggestion has also been made that Johnson/Cummings wanted Javid out and so engineered a situation which they knew would be unacceptable to him. To the outside world it would look better than sacking him.
Rishi Sunak is not the son of a bus driver. He was educated at Winchester and did PPE at Oxford and his father-in-law is a billionaire.

Events yesterday look like despotism - and when the despot is a self-serving liar like Johnson there is cause to be worried. Hopefully though he'll shortly fuck things up to the extent that the UK implodes and the circumstances arise that allow Scotland to bale out of the UK.
I do hope those Brexit supporting Tory voters eventually come to realise and regret, in their naivety, that they twice opened the door that allowed this madness to happen, albeit that it may aid Scottish independence.

They won't.
It is an article of faith for them.

I guess Javid wasn't quite the monkey that Johnson and Cummings (Bummings?) took him for.
And, perhaps, he wasn't up to spending money that they don't have on pointless vanity projects. I suspect Sunak will end up just printing it.

Unfortunately I had to look that up - a warning is needed!

Quite. If everything goes tits-up as a result of Brexit, they'll find a way to blame remainers - "talking down Britain", or some such bollocks.
