Title: Is there life after death?
Post by: ippy on May 07, 2020, 11:18:06 AM
I found this by chance on YouTube and think it's not easily dismissed.

Just go to John Cleese Is Their Life After Death on YouTube.

I don't know what to make of it so help yourselves make up your own minds, if you can on this one, I found it very interesting, over to you lot.

Regards to all, ippy.

Do you need some help with posting links?

Is this it: Is There Life After Death? moderated by John Cleese - 2018 Tom Tom Festival (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4RGizqsLumo), and, given that it's an an hour and 40 minutes long, perhaps you'd like to summarise what you found difficult to dismiss?

Thank you for posting that - as soon as I read the OP, I thought, oh dear, I'll have to request a point or two.

You found this talk quiet easily and I really don't know what to think about the facts that were  brought out and I would think there are so many things in there that couldn't be summarily dismissed.

Due to  the number of experiences expressed I would have thought it would be for the individual listener to make up their own minds and again, I don't know exactly what to make of it,  as I said it's not easy to dismiss everything you hear.

Regards, ippy.

There must be some sort of theme or idea running through it, mustn't there? What is the starting point? Is it a talk given in a hall or something? Is it a range of anecdotes?  Is there a text summary or commentary to go with it?

You found this talk quiet easily...

So do you want help posting links or not? And how do you know I found it easily? Wouldn't it be better to get the hang linking for yourself?

Speaking for myself, I'm not about to embark on watching over an hour and a half unless you give a better reason than something or other is "not easy to dismiss". What isn't and why is it not easy to dismiss? How about an example (with a time into the video, ideally)?

I'm loathe to give an opinion on any of it as I have said.

It's John Cleese and five other people on stage all seem very well qualified people not your usual prone to believe in fairy stories people in the way most religionists are, all I can say is it's far away from being boring, definitely worth a listen and see what you think, without any guidance from me other than it's very entertaining.

It's obviously up to you, see my reply to Susan.

Well, if any of them give, as your posts appear to imply,  any indication that they believe there is any kind, any kind at all, of an after-life other than as atoms of ashes, then however well they express it, I personally am certainly not interested.

I'm just as much a sceptic as you are and I don't think if you did listen you'd end up shooting me down in flames, but of course it's your choice.

For future reference, play the video and right click on the time line below it and above the controls.

You'll get a menu with several options, one of which is "copy video URL" and another is "copy video URL at current time".

The first gives you a URL like this:

https://youtu.be/4RGizqsLumo

The second gives you a URL like this

https://youtu.be/4RGizqsLumo?t=1629

Note that the second has the extra "t=something" at the end. The number is the number of seconds since the start of the video.

Then you can paste the URL directly into your post as above or use the URL tags (or the "insert hyperlink" button) e.g.

Code: [Select]
[url=https://youtu.be/4RGizqsLumo?t=1800]Half an hour after the start[/url]

and it will look like this:

Half an hour after the start (https://youtu.be/4RGizqsLumo?t=1800)

Short lived seems two reasons, video too long and how to post links.

Well tell us Ippy, you watched it  so why not give us a short run down on what conclusion you came to personally. We would like to know why. Or at least I would.

As well as I have previously posted it's not for me to make up people's minds for them, as for my view, I would sum that up as 'Mmm, strange', and nothing more than that.
