Will be interested to see who other candidates are. There are a plethora of indy parties and I am struggling to see resulting in anything more than 1 MP for Alba. Supplies of popcorn will be strained over the next few weeks.

I suppose we should watch for any high profile SNP resignations in the next few days - the likes of Joanna Cherry come to mind.

I fancied liked Galloway.
He's one of the most objectionable, unpleasant people I have ever met. His fatuous attack on a Yes vote at the indyref in 2014 because of it putting Catholics in danger is one of the prime dangerous pieces of idiotic lying that I have seen. His baiting of Michael Barrymore on Celebrity Big Brother was the act of an self indulgent bully. And then there was his sycophancy from out of the arse of Saddam Hussein.

I remember seeing a clip of that! Yes it was awful. People did behave out of character in that context though. I do not remember anything about Saddam Hussein.

Well I definitely found the man fascinating but I probably wouldn't had I met him.

Neale Hanvey MP gone over to Alba meaning it now has more MPs in Scotland than Labour. Also Lynn Anderson - the SNP Wqualities Convenor, and I believe Caroline McAllister, the SNP Women's Convenor to follow.

Sheridan is another candidate for the title of a Scottish Farage.

I think Neale Hanvey made a mistake but unconvinced he's anti semitic. The interesting thing though is both the Epqualitis and Women's Convenors, Lynn Anderson and Caroline McAllister having crossed the floor.

Well Sturgeon being more worried about some trans activists leaving the party rather than death threats to Joanna Cherry may be part of the reason. It is not just Caroline McAllister. If you put this just down to personality, you are missing what is going on.

This thread has been created from posts spilt from the 'Salmond denies sexual misconduct allegations' thread in that the discussion there moved towards the impending Holyrood election, and though initially there maybe some crossover this election involves wider issues so this thread has been created so that the original 'Salmond' can be used for any subsequent legal developments regarding that case.

On a lighter note, for anyone with access to the separate BBC Scotland channel (108 on Virgin Media), at 10pm this evening Chief Commissioner Miekelson (of Scot Squad) interviews the leaders of all the 5 main parties contesting this election. Those unfamiliar with the Chief's approach might find his recent apology for offending minorities of interest.

I'm astonished that we just took Ayr...I didn't expect that.

Worried that Joan McAlpine might lose out. In part because of the dodgy NEC decision about the list.

Ayr has been traditionally Tory, give or take a few anomalies, for decades; John Scott was a good MSP for his seat - and had a lot of respect. Joan would indeed be a great loss, though.

And with East Lothian looking like she might be lost. In part because of the fucked up possibly illegal NEC decision.  The SNP are a disgrace.

The end of Wings Over Scotland. Never been my favourite person but was excellent on factual stuff. This sign off is brutal, and highlights many of the divisions in the nationalist movement. The attack on Paul Kavanaugh is asking to be sued.

Doesn't really address the personal attacks so doesn't read as a response. Doesn't deal with the issue on the GRA where the SNP lost their women's convenor and their equalities convenor to Alba. Doesn't deal with there being no plan to present to make the case for independence.

It's a kind of response, though. More mature, certainly. And, as if by magic....... https://weegingerdug.wordpress.com/2021/05/12/the-c-word/

One that ignores many of the issues. My take is that unless the UK govt decides to call the Scottish govt's bluff, there will not be an indyref2 in the life of the Scottish Parliament. In addition, the brute fact of Brexit is something that the main part of the nationalist movement has no answer to as regards the border.

Two people shouting at each other. Those who support one will believe that one. For the rest of us, it's just a mess.
