This from today's Guardian explaining how we've all been misled by the idea of a "red Wall".

"Labour" sounds archaic - it is a remnent of times when the national workforce was characterised by musclepower. Those days have gone - indeed the article scorns the C2DE categorisation. Our FPTP electorl system thrives on tribalism. "Red wall" celebrates this tribalism - and Margaret Thatcher did her bit to reinforce tribalism by her obsession with "home owning".

Although he is now frequently derided, the success for Labour of the Blair decade is - surely - that he moved the Labour Party away from its tribal location. (And Corbyn pushed it right back.)

What could Starmer do to make Labour electable? How about changing its name?
