This should please Vlad
https://arstechnica.com/science/2023/01/requiem-for-a-string-charting-the-rise-and-fall-of-a-theory-of-everything
It discusses the reasons why String Theory isn't a theory (despite the name) and why very few people are working with it anymore.

I confess I did smile when I saw the name ''arstechnica''. I shall read the article with great interest.

Sriram will not be amused. It will take me some time to digest that lot. Btw, why didn't they all call it "String Hypothesis" from the start? Surely scientists knew it wasn't a true theory, in the scientific sense, however much it seemed to unify all the disparate universal theories around (Planck, Einstein etc)?

It could be having an NDE....!
If not, it is unfortunate. The idea of a fundamental foundation to this complex universe is quite appealing. It echos the idea of a Universal consciousness as the substratum.
