I suspect she isn't lying because that would require her to have principles. It's worth remembering that Truss was a remain supporter with opinions on the centre right of the Tory Party. Her rubber chicken wooing of the party members convinced her to sound more right wing. She's now branded with the budget so that's where she has to play to.
In the manouevrings to be the revenant Tory leader, she's suffering against the King over the water in the Ukraine.
