Title: Tories explore scrapping non-dom tax status
Post by: Nearly Sane on February 29, 2024, 10:40:41 AM
If they use this to reduce National Insurance as is being suggested, it's quite clever. It was always a bit of a stretch to fund the various things Labour wanted to out of their proposed removal but this would put them in the position of either removing the tax cuts, or finding another source.

It does go against previous stated Tory policy, and in their previous view would lead to an overall reduction of tax take but consistency is way too high a bar to be expected just now.

Wait a minute.

Do you mean the Tories are nicking policies from a party that they say doesn't have a plan?

if scrapping non dom tax breaks is a plan for govt spending, then tipping up the sofa is a plan for paying for the lecky.

The Tories are a bunch of dangerous, corrupt, racist incompetents but if they did this they would be outwitting Labour.

I hear that phrase and am reminded of an evil dwarf but enough of Rishi Sunak
