The ambivalence thar there has been to support Rushdie has always saddened me.

I saw the excerpt from the interview this morning and will watch the whole thing later.

Truly remarkable.

I agree he deserves better support than has been offered due to worries others have about offending some bizarre subset of a religion.

And not just that. There have been many who see the whole thing as just some 'luvvie' dealing into the realms of politics.

That is a fundamental lack of understanding of the role of authors in society.
