I'm intrigued by the musical, I can see how it works but it seems to me more tragic than inspirational.

I've read about him before: irresponsible and foolish, but also rather wonderful.

The first time I came across the story, many years ago, was as a Darwin award winner. Clearly, he could not have been one since he survived the incident. The mythology must already have established, even then.
