Title: 'Once-in-a-century' discovery reveals spectacular luxury of Pompeii

It always feels odd that we have this level of preservation through what was a tragedy. Pompeii is one of those places that I have planned to visit a couple of times but life got in the way

'The Last Days of Pompeii' by Edward Bulwer--Lytton is an excellent Victorian novel about the disaster that I read a few years ago, and recommend.

It was featured on the lunchtime news, it is incredible that so much has survived.
