Then there's Jesus's brother. He was called James, and,. like Jesus, was descended from King David, so his full name was... Jim Davidson.

Apparently Jim Davidson couldn't perform one night because he felt"A bit funny". His manager told him to get on stage quick, before it wore off.

Yeah, familiar with that. Strange that it is presented as something new (by the article).

I think it's well known that "Jesus" is the latinisation of the Greek version of "Yeshua". The only surprising thing is that he wan't called "Immanuel" as prophesied (not really) by Isaiah.

I don't really have a stake in these kinds of discussions anymore, but this isn't new and is stating the obvious. It's like saying "Did you know Finland isn't called "Finland" in Finnish".

Immanuel is not a name as such, it is a declaration meaning "God is with us"

Peter is not a name, it just means "rock".
Names can a d frequently do have meanings. Clearly Immanuel is a name given its context:
Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Look, the young woman is with child and shall bear a son, and shall name him Immanuel.
- Isaiah 7:14 NRSV

I'll bet Immanuel Kant would have been surprised to know that his first name wasn't really a name!

There appears to be two main words for the Hebrew God.... YHWH abreviated to Yah and Elohim abbreviated to El. Both often appear in names of people, perhaps as an aspiration rather than a description. Examples are Ananiyah - protected by God, Azariyah - helped by God, Isaiyah - salvation of God, Mattithiyah (Mathew) - gift of God, Jahoshuah (Jesus) - Salvation of God. Gabriel - Strength of God, Hanniel - grace of God, Raphael - medicine of God, Israel - wrestler with God.

Hello Sriram,
Yeshua, is believed to be Joshua.
It is interesting to find new beliefs. But I believe Jesus to have been born in the month of September/October which is the 7th month of the Jewish calendar. Tishre, is the name of the
7th month.
