My husband and I have been watching this programme about the happiness, joy and laughter Ken Dodd brought to people who watched him perform. I remember when he was performing at Plas Madoc Leisure Centre a good number of years ago, our Down's Syndrome son had written him a letter telling Ken how funny he thought he was. Ken asked us to come and watch his show, which we really enjoyed. :) When it was over, well passed midnight, he invited our son and I to come to his dressing room. He was wonderful, he presented our lad with two of his tickling sticks, which we still have. The new Happiness centre will ensure Ken Dodd is never forgotten.

Isaw him live once, at a matinee performance in c.1964, with my parents and sister, in Morecambe. I loved every minute, as did they. Later we went to a café for fish ad chips, where I shook the vinegar bottle too hard, causing the top to come off and flood my plate with vinegar.
"I'm ot on telly much nowadays - I can't cook." - Doddy, shortly before his death.
