Well, those of a certain age will get nostalgic for Paddy McGinty's goat and walk tall before getting into O'Rafferty's motor car to watch Delaney's Donkey race......

But he was part of my childhood, and had a great crooning voice.

I don't like music, but my father liked Doonican's music and had it on when I was a kid.

Jeremy Vine started today's programme with a Doonican song that I didn't recognise - 'The Special Years'.  Well worth a listen if you don't know it - and available on the iPlayer.
Are your, or your friends'/relatives', garages, lofts or sheds full of unused DIY gear, sewing/knitting machines or fabric and haberdashery stuff?

Dear Jim,

Aye, Rest in Peace Mr Doonican, my wee Ma was a great fan >:(

She also owned a top of the range knitting machine, so thank you Mr Doonican for inspiring her to knit all those wonderful Jumpers that you wore which me and my brothers had to wear to school, the mental scars have healed  >:(

Did she knit you a rocking chair as well, Gonners? :)
Seriously, I'm not ashamed to admit I liked Val's voice as a teenager. Some of his more thoughtful stuff was genuinely wonderful.

His voice and songs epitomised thye word "crooner".

What do you like Floo?
Not a great deal, by all accounts!

Definately!

I wish I had gone to see him, he often used to perform near me.

The man with a twinkle in his eye 😀🍷

He was a pleasant man to listen to;  often regarded, I think, as our answer to Bing Crosby.

When did I say I didn't like chocolate? I do like it! I have never liked music, and holidays. I like being ME!
