Four Years?!
« on: September 25, 2015, 01:44:45 PM »
I just noticed that this forum has been going for over four years! I know its not that long in the grand scheme of things but still... it took me by surprise at least.
A lot of people don't believe that the loch ness monster exists. Now, I don't know anything about zooology, biology, geology, herpetology, evolutionary theory, evolutionary biology, marine biology, cryptozoology, palaeontology or archaeology... but I think... what if a dinosaur got into the lake?

Wow - just think of all the wisdom we've collectively produced over the last 4 years.

There must be some, surely!

Sounds like an excuse to go to the pub to me. I mean, it is Friday...

The wisdom is the fact that I have gained friends on here that I can go to the pub with and have a laugh with. The evening when Gonzo did the speech was all the justification this place would ever need. Friends together encouraging and supporting and laughing.

I'll never forget that night, and aside from Gonners there was the unforgettable 'Elvis' - and also those Saturdays in Babbity's solving the problems of the world (not that they listened) :)

But I only drink on three days of the year.

Yesterday, today and tomorrow ;)

I know we have floated the idea of a grand meet before but symbolism works. When are we, like Jeffty, five? Could we use it as an excuse to do some meet?

I'm not sure if I'm disappointed that people seem to think they need an excuse to go and have a drink... :)

I belonged to a forum called Faithspace for about 10 years until about 5 years ago when it began to fall into disuse (I logged into it recently and I think that the most recent 'proper' post - ie not spam and adverts - was about 4 years ago)  We had a couple of meet-ups - one in the Bury area and one in the Nottingham area.  It was good to meet up with people we had only ever known 'virtually' and to get at least some idea of what made them tick.

As far as I am aware, I've only met one person from here face to face. Whilst we didn't often see eye-to-eye with each other on the board, we got on fairly well (it was only an hour or so in the pub, so hard to be that much more definitive than that) when we met.

Are your, or your friends'/relatives', garages, lofts or sheds full of unused DIY gear, sewing/knitting machines or fabric and haberdashery stuff?

It would be good to meet up with someone at some point, but I'm thinking the nearest person to me is Sass, so fuck that.

If it is friday and a drink or three are indicated we could always go to the Glitter Room!

(Assuming that there are those on here who ever visited the Pagan Topic on te Beeb!)

(Which, regrettably, most on here being either Christian or atheist, I doubt)

I have been on various forums over the years. Mostly under the same name of Dajjal (the muslim antichrist)
I was at the BBC forum and before that at a very busy forum called Itshappening. It was an American forum that was very active and radical for years after 9/11.
