I agree completely, yet I fear this is where we are heading.
I fear you're right and want to be wrong. There's little you can do; curmudgeonly old purists such as me who maintain the traditional distinction between disinterested and uninterested, have a gerund and know how to use it and (in many, not all cases) try to avoid ending sentences with a preposition are mostly pissing in the wind.

It's the basic law of the universe - change - in play again. So it goes.

Pain, or damage, don't end the world. Or despair, or fucking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man, and give some back. - Al Swearengen, Deadwood.

Yes, there shouldn't be anything wrong with being a radical - indeed, it should in many cases be a badge of honour. Yet instead it is becoming simply a synonym for zealot, as you say.

I'm no linguistic purist - fingers and brain rarely work in harmony for starters - but words should at least be used with accurate meaning.

I would agree wholeheartedly, Rhi.  Interestingly, last year's reactionary can become this year's radical simply because of changes in social attitudes.

But what counts as 'accurate meaning'?  For instance, as we've seen on the 'Lord's Prayer' thread, the word 'tempt' has a different meaning today to what it had in King James VI time.  On a shorter time scale - we have words like 'wicked' and 'gay' that have changed meanings dramatically in the space of 20+years and 60+ years respectively.

Even 'radical' could be seen to be synonymous with 'zealot' if you look at oxforddictionaries.com. The third section under synonyms of 'radical', is "a radical political movement" and you get words such as
Quote
extreme, extremist, fanatical, militant, diehard ...
If you then look for synonyms of zealot, you get this selection:
Quote
fanatic, enthusiast, extremist, radical, Young Turk, diehard, activist, militant ...

Are your, or your friends'/relatives', garages, lofts or sheds full of unused DIY gear, sewing/knitting machines or fabric and haberdashery stuff?

I came across this claim that a journalist ( Julie Bindle ) claimed that all men should be shut away in camps with wardens and not allowed out.

I have been trying to get of the truth of the matter.

It seems to me, radical feminists are a poisonous bunch and we should be treating them the same way as we would the kkk or Nazis.

I'm still looking at it, but what I've seen so far is pretty awful.

As a woman they horrify me, I don't know about men.

I can see why they are given no platforming status

http://www.radfemcollective.org/no-platforming/

This one discusses how Julie Bindle has supposedly said all men should be put into concentration camps.

Julie Bindle was a darling of the Graun until the issue of transexuals began to be discussed. Julie's grumble is that she wants to be a lesbian activist, not an LGBTQQUTIAFA activist, for which she has been accused of "transphobia".

Of course women can be abusive, very; and not just to other women either, sadly.  :(

But yes, I've known women who have chosen a relationship with another woman - in her book Kissing the Hag Emma Restall Orr quotes one woman saying that it was like having a love affair with herself.

I wouldn't mind having a love affair with myself - I mean, what's not to love  :D ?  Nevertheless, having an affair with another woman would mean physical intimacy, and you have to fancy someone to do that more than once, surely.

Thanks for the info about Kissing the Hag, I think I will get hold of that book.
