Tam Dalyell has died. He was one politician I did admire.

We are poorer for his departure.
Does Magna Carta mean nothing to you? Did she die in vain?

Tam was unique - a genuine man of principle, who did not sacrifice that principle for power. I did not share his views on devolution - though his "West Lothian question" remains unanswered, but I nevertheless admired a man who argued through his conviction. I agree that devolution, as he, with prescience, saw, would cause disunity and break the union.

Dalyell has left his body to science, he has gone up in my estimation.

What was your issue with him in the first place?

Eh?
Which of his actions offended you?
