I cannot see how undergoing this procedure regularly can be healthy-surely too much of this & one will end up with a permanently dilated back passage?

Exactly and it cannot be a pleasant procedure.  I remember when it was fashionable before, maybe 20 years ago.  Didn't know it had had a renaissance.
