Hard Sun

Opinions?
It's a standard hard-bitten-cop-and sinister-secret-service show, except for the sci-fi bit about the impending extinction of life on earth when the sun blows up in five years time in the background, which seems a bit irrelevant really. The first series ended with the sun apparently starting to go supernova early, which makes it hard to see how there can be any more series, though apparently five are planned.

Watched it: thought it was quite good as a conspiracy theory that quickly morphed into a 'bad cop' police thriller. For me though it could have worked with just a thriller since the 'sci-fi' aspect was underplayed until the end of the last episode (of this series).

Watched it all through. Agree mostly with what's been said. I thought the sci fi part was totally underused, and, in the last episode, just seemed rather silly. Lots of violence seemed to be the order of the day, although some of the stories were quite well done. Overall- disappointing. :(

I did enjoy it, partly because it's so bonkers.  As others said, the sci-fi stuff is just tacked on.   Thrillers today seem to be in pursuit of the implausible, which I don't mind, if it's well done.   Agyness Deyn and Jim Sturgess were fun to watch.   Sturgess's accent was a corker, sort of estuary Essex Eastenders.   You slag, you're the one wot's done it, innit?

The writer did Luther as well,
But Luther condemned him to hell,
Then Calvin joined in,
Till Zwingli said "Sin
A bit more, and I swear I won't tell".

Thanks, on the basis of that post I might watch it too.

There is a boy at work with a strange accent. I asked him where he was from & he replied "Essex". When I told him that he did not sound like anybody from Essex whom I had ever met, he replied "I have lived in Sweden for the past five years, my sister has a ghastly Essex accent, I can't stand it, its all "Oooh allo".

Do you remember "Artemis '81"?

I have read the Wiki page, and I still don't know what it was supposed to be about.
