I have the greatest respect for Stephen's parents, the way they conducted themselves with such dignity but would not give up. Doreen is amazing.

The recent TV documentaries about Stephen Lawrence, 25 years on, were very good.

You can say blow Theresa May but then you are ignoring the exploitation of a murder to cover up a disgrace.

Was I? All I meant was that she is spouting platitudes. Pretty sure I never wanted a cover up, at the time I was vocal and active enough about justice for Stephen - which has never happened. Though not in my town the murder happened not that far away from me and locally it caused a lot of action. At least one of the murderers lived in the Bromley area too.

No more from me on this, it's too close to home.

Didn't say you wanted a cover up. Rather that just letting the use of the murder is allowing May to distract from Windrush. This is bread and circuses, not real change

Much as I accept that the murder of this young man was awful, which applies to all other murders of course, and there may well be local aspects regarding racism issues in that area that I'm obviously not very familiar with, I'm surprised that it is to be a regular 'national' commemoration event since it seems like a local tragedy.

Given the current Windrush events resulting from the racist policies of this government I'd say the involvement of Teresa May in this stinks to high heaven.

As an aside.... "Harry Hewett" must have been a childhood genious, or been glued to the telly by his mum if his memories were so profound.

Surely the Stephen Lawrence though was news for a long time after the initial killing? I don't think Harry Is saying that it all happened at the point but that the sense of the importance grew as events unfolded. And surely the whole 'he's James Hewitt's son really' schtick is both too boring and pointless to still be raising?
