I don't think it is rubbish, anyway some people's idea of a small amount of alcohol often puts them close to, or over the limit.

A glass of wine would be a small amount of alcohol but impairment as a result for an average person is going to be minimal if any. The law recognises this, which is why the current level is not zero. There are many distractions available to car drivers that will be worse.

Damn right. A glass of wine with food or even one or two beers after work ain't going to affect the driving ability of most people. There! We've agreed again...I'm scared.

Having experienced both, my judgement is that driving while absolutely busting for a piss is vastly more likely to be a cause of inattentive and therefore unsafe driving than driving with a more or less empty bladder but after one glass of wine with food.
