Read the book of this title by Isabel Hardman over the last couple of days. As the review below says it's a very fair well thought out book, though doesn't really come up with full solutions. In these days of Brexit, while it's hard to think that most MPs are actually dedicated, it's worth reading up on the issues that the system creates. The idea as covered in the review that they aren't good at scrutinising legislation, which then creates problems which they have to solve for their constituents, is central to the book.
