Two days ago in the evening, the phone rang, but it wasn't the usual brrr--brrr, but one single strong ring, then a pause and then another. I picked up the receiver and, yes, it was a normal call and the person phoning said the phone had sounded like the double ring to her. This has continued.
I have a big button phone and I tried the three different ring tone choices. A friend phone me each time to check the ring. One was a squeaky one, and the other two gave the loud single ring.
Today I phone Supanet and the Tech girl checked the line and rang me back. Nothing apparently wrong and as the line is working, they would not send an engineer out which is understandable.
I wonder if anyone has an idea of why this might have happened, especially as my next-door neighbour said yesterday that this was happening to her land line too. She is also with Supanet.
My first reaction is always to assume I have pressed some button by mistake!
