It is tragic.

I caught an interview on Sky news with the policy manager for the Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants, Zoe Gardner:

However if I thought this would shame Pritti Patel into any kind of humanitarian change I was soon disabused of this hope when I read the horrendous comments of the general public below the interview, I'm sure Ms Patel will not have a problem pandering to their abhorrent views.

I think the people who most deserve to come to live here are the ones who camp out waiting for the chance to get on a lorry or boat, not those with the highest qualifications. Maybe our immigration policy should account for this kind of resolve?
