Operation Mincemeat

Am I alone in being bemused (to say the least) at the astonishment being displayed in the media and elsewhere about the content and espionage activity being exposed in the new film Operation Mincemeat?

I recall, when very young. being enthralled by a film telling exactly the same story The Man Who Never Was, based on a book by Ewan Montague who was one of the officers actually involved in the original operation.

No idea why they didn't use the same name, since it this new film sounds like a remake.

 Not quite, the book Operation Mincemeat by Ben MacIntyre updated the details quite a bit, and it's based on that.

Mincemeat is a mixture of chopped dried fruit, distilled spirits and spices

Not to be confused with minced meat.
