Ian Hamilton, KC

Ian Hamilton, famous for being one of the four students who repatriated the Stone of Destiny in 1950, has died. I met Ian a few times, mainly in his capacity as a Q.C. concerned with advocacy in matters of disability rights, and found him a genuinely gentle, humorous, but deeply committed man. The events of Christmas 1950 will always be his memorial, however. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-63132771
"for, as long as but a hundred of us remain alive, never will we on any conditions be brought under English rule. It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom - for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself."
