"God's smuggler", 'Brother Andrew', has died. A quite remarkable life, a man of compassion and insight. Although I was familiar with his work behind the Iron Curtain, his book 'Light force' fascinated me. It told of his work in the Gaza strip in the very early formative days of Hamas, and gave surprising insights into the tolerance and even protection, the very early founders of the organisation gave to minorities....until the first uprising, the missiles and the raids from Israeli troops radicalised many of the leadership. Andrew's book, "God's Smuggler" is still worth a read, and his legacy of the Open Doors organisation remains very active.
