The Spirit of Sauntering

Thoreau on the Art of Walking and the Perils of a Sedentary Lifestyle.

I like a good saunter though I prefer one in an urban landscape, and I would substitute a good pint for the doughnuts

Sauntering in a relaxed manner while smoking a pipe is called lunting. From the urban dictionary:
I once tried using "chicken" as a password, but was told it must contain a capital so I tried "chickenkiev"
On another occasion, I tried "beefstew", but was told it wasn't stroganoff.

As I've aged, and taking into account the effects of illness, I enjoy a semi-aimless wander on my own - sometimes it's hard to find the time, but worthwhile when I can.

Close to where we live, and no more than 10 minutes in the car, there are the reservoirs in Milngavie, which contain the water coming from Loch Katrine  - and during the week, when the kids are in school, it is a lovely (and flat) saunter.
