This doesn't surprise me. It seems to me much of what he does is driven by a 'surfeit of empathy'.
I'd missed the stuff about him getting pressured to comment on Gaza. I think it's not so much anti semitism as a more generalised demand on people to be more 'involved' because of connections that people see than they actually are. All the weird apologising for historic acts of nations and people.
