A lot of time, and a lot of words but it seems that really that's all that's happened. How many times have such things finished with facile assertions of 'couldn't happen now' and 'never again' . That there are still ongoing inquiries in Rochdale doesn't make those claims feel strong.

Of course, it's another establishment failure where a tv drama helped kick them up the arse but with inquiries taking way longer than 2 electoral terms, it's too easy for such things to fall.

My recollection is that it was investigated by inquiry but ot concluded that there was no real possibility of ceiminal proceedings due to the time passed?

That no doubt expresses the final outcome. But no doubt there were contemporary reports which were deliberaterately ignored because Sinister Cyril was a 'distinguished Liberal politician'. Just as the matters your thread raises were ignored with the excuse of fears of accusations of racism.

Agree, in terms of the lack of contemporaneous investigations.

As to the grooming gangs, I think a lot of the lack of invetsigation was not just because of fears of accusations of racism but also active misogynism, and other biases.
