English is two languages that exist simultaneously side by side with each other.
One is a germanic language largely based on short (largely mono or bisyllabic) words whose condition and situation are modified by additional particle words. The other, introduced by the Normans was derived from descendents of Latin in which words can become multisyllabic - partly because in order to provide the modifications required to provide condition and situation inflections rather than particles are used. These are additional syllables usually found at the end of words.
It is possible in English to make a statement in either of these two linguistic systems. For example:
