I agree and 55 is far too young.

I was a big fan of his batting and I remember well the selectors dilemma in the run up to the 2005 Ashes between selecting Thorpe or Pietersen. The selectors went for the latter (I wasn't sure that was a good idea which shows how much I know). And that was that - Thorpe's career was over in a flash.

I did wonder if Thorpe might have committed suicide when his death was announced, and he did. Severe depression is such an incredibly difficult issue for those who have it, and who love and support those who have it. Brave of his family to speak openly about it.
